Rubber Compound

KENDA has developed some of the most advanced rubber compounds in the cycling world. Rubber compounds are designed with rolling resistance, grip, durability and puncture resistance in mind.

Tread Pattern

The environment in which the tyre is to be used determines tread pattern. Whether your riding takes you down a nice smooth road, through dusty desert trails, or bombing down a muddy, root infested downhill course, the tread pattern is the key ingredient in how your bike handles.

Casing

The casing is the fabric that the rubber compound adheres to. The fabric of the casing can be made in varying thicknesses and threads per inch (TPI). The casings can be treated and reinforced with various materials in order to achieve different ride qualities.

Bead

The bead is the loop of material that ensures the tyre is held securely to the rim. KENDA Premium tyres are available in either wire, and or folding bead.

UST Tubeless

Kenda has been certified by Mavic to build tubeless tyres to the UST Universal System Tubeless) standards. UST standards test a tyre’s air retention, ease of mounting and dismounting, bead elasticity, high-pressure limits, and the tyres ability to remain seated to the rim under low pressure situations. Tubeless tyres offer a distinct advantage over conventional tyres in ride quality and flat resistance. Because there is no tube, the tyre can be run with approximately 10%-15% less air pressure than conventional tyres. The result is improved traction in rough conditions and elimination of “pinch flats”. tyres can be repaired in the field with the use of sealant, patch kit or a tube.

Casing Technology

A puncture resistant tyre casing similar to the K-shield, Iron Cloak runs from bead to bead, thereby strengthening the side walls of the tyre and providing a superior level of puncture protection over the entyre tyre. Used exclusively on the Kaliente road tyre.

CAP Ply

Originally developed for our motorcycle tyres, CAP Ply is puncture resistant material designed to prevent pinch flats

Rubber Compounds

Low rolling resistance rubber compound used in lightweight cross country applications. Benefits are low rolling resistance, increased tread life and a lighter tyre. Used on Kaliente Iron Cloak, Kaliente Lite, Karma Dual Tread Compound (L3RPRO down the center & Stick-E rubber on the sides), and the Tomac Signature Series “Cortez” 26x2.4-700 grams. Durability exceeds it’s predecessor “L3R” which put Kenda on the map in lightweight tyres.

Low rolling resistance rubber compound used in lightweight cross country applications. Benefits are low rolling resistance, increased tread life and a lighter tyre. Used in the Klimax Lite-345gram, KozmiK Lite-395-gram, and the Kharisma Lite 495-gram.

Slow rebounding rubber compound for the ultimate in traction control. The slow rebound ratio of the rubber, acts as a suspension, allowing the tread to conform to the trail surface rather than bouncing off of it. Stick-E rubber is used in two applications. One is over the entyre tread surface (Freeride/Downhill) the other is on the outside knobs used on cross country applications for outstanding traction in the corners.

Protection

This is Kenda’s latest technological improvement to help prevent side wall cuts or punctures. Kenda Engineer’s observed that by applying a thin layer of a special protective tape to the side wall of the tyre, it reduced side wall cuts, punctures and tears without adding signi?cant weight or cost to the tyre. Further more, this tape is external and you can see and demonstrate yourself the de?ective charistic of the material. SWS ensures that your race or ride will be more enjoyable knowing that the chances of ripping a sidewall and ruining a tyre are greatly reduced.

High and low modulus complex material, bonded tightly by new technology provides excellent tread stiffness and superb puncture resistance and resistance against side cutting. Used exclusively on tyres from the ‘Kwick Roller Series’.

Standard Tube

Kenda's standard tubes are available in a vast array of sizes and in most valve options. The wall thickness is 0.85mm.

Ultra Lite

If you want to save weight then Kenda's Ultra Lite tube is for you. Tube wall thickness is 0.60mm and weight is around 69grams* per tube (*presta valve).

Thorn Resistant

If your routes are prone to getting you punctures then the Thorn Resitant tube will help battle the problem. Wall thickness on the outer facing surface is 4.3mm with the remainder at 0.85mm to keep weight down. Available in the most common sizes with valve options.

Kwick Seal

The Kwick Seal tube is filled with a liquid so if you are unlucky enough to get a thorn*, piece of glass* etc in your tube (*upto 1/8" diameter), just remove the object carefully spin the wheel and the liquid will react with the air and seal the hole allowing you to carry on with you journey.

Heavy Duty

Heavy Duty for heavy duty riding, the wall thickness is 2.25mm which pretty much eliminate's pinch punctures. Ideal for Downhill, BMX street-vert-ramp.
